Women from Across Israel Gather at Nishmat Ahead of Rosh Hashana

September 2026

Ahead of Rosh Hashana, women from across Israel gathered at Nishmat for the annual Rosh Hashana Yom Iyun — a day dedicated to Torah learning, reflection, and preparation for the High Holidays.

The day opened with Rabbanit Chana Henkin, Founder and Chancellor of Nishmat, teaching on the voices of the shofar. Participants also heard shiurim from Rav Da’avid Sperling, Rosh Beit Midrash; Rav Eitan Aviner, Torah educator; and Rabbanit Atara Eis, Dean of Nishmat.

Making Torah Learning Accessible

Throughout the year, Nishmat hosts Yemei Iyun ahead of significant Chaggim, opening its Beit Midrash and signature, text-based Torah study to women beyond Nishmat’s full-time programs. These days give women access to serious Torah learning from leading educators while creating dedicated time to step away from their everyday schedules and prepare for the Chag.

Ahead of Rosh Hashana in particular, the Yom Iyun offered an opportunity to reflect on the year that has passed and enter the new year with a meaningful Torah perspective.
